Description

David Grays Malathion Garden Spray 200mL: Insecticide Concentrate for Aphids, Mites & Fruit Fly

David Grays Malathion Garden Spray is a concentrated insecticide for controlling a broad range of common pests in the home garden. It contains 500g/L maldison (malathion) and controls aphids, mites, scale, cabbage moth and loopers on ornamentals and vegetables, and it also controls fruit fly in home garden fruit trees. Being a 200mL concentrate, you mix only as much as you need for the job, which makes it economical and flexible whether you are spot-treating a rose bush or spraying the veggie patch.

Malathion is a long-established, broad-spectrum insecticide that works on contact, making it a reliable go-to when pests take hold. Its ability to handle both sap-sucking pests like aphids, mites and scale and chewing pests like cabbage moth and loopers, plus fruit fly, means one product covers a lot of the common problems across the garden, from ornamentals to the vegetable bed and fruit trees.

For fruit fly in particular, it is used with an added attractant. Mixing protein or sugar into the spray draws the fruit fly to the treated area, which makes the control far more effective than spraying alone. As with any garden chemical, it should be used strictly as directed on the label, including the withholding period before harvest.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Concentrated garden insecticide containing 500g/L maldison (malathion)

  • Controls aphids, mites, scale, cabbage moth and loopers on ornamentals and vegetables

  • Also controls fruit fly in home garden fruit trees

  • Broad-spectrum control of both sucking and chewing pests

  • 200mL concentrate lets you mix only what you need

  • A reliable, long-established insecticide for the home garden

How to Use

Pour the required quantity into a measuring cylinder and mix with water.

  • For aphids, mites, scale, cabbage moths and loopers: mix 5mL per 2 litres of water, and apply late in the day, out of the heat.

  • For fruit fly: mix 25mL per 4 litres of water to treat approximately 30 trees, and add 25mL of protein or 200g of sugar to the solution as an attractant.

Spray to cover the affected plants thoroughly, spraying late in the day out of the heat to reduce the risk of leaf burn and to protect bees, which are less active then. Do not harvest fruit or vegetables for 4 days after spraying. Always use as directed by the product label.

Safety and Responsible Use

  • Read the label and keep out of reach of children. Malathion is an organophosphate insecticide and must be used strictly as directed.

  • Wear protective clothing, including gloves and eye protection, and avoid contact with skin and eyes and breathing the spray mist.

  • Observe the 4-day withholding period before harvesting treated fruit and vegetables.

  • Protect bees and beneficial insects. Spray late in the day when bees are less active, and avoid spraying flowering plants that bees are visiting.

  • Protect waterways. Do not let the product or spray enter drains, sewers, streams or ponds.

  • First aid / poisons. In case of poisoning, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 or a doctor.
