Description

AzaMax Organic Insecticide 1L: Neem Azadirachtin Control for Mites, Aphids and Fungus Gnats

AzaMax is a registered-organic insecticide made from a concentrated extract of the neem tree (Azadirachta indica). It contains 11.82g/L azadirachtin (a 12,000 ppm concentrate) and controls a range of chewing and sucking pests, working in a completely different way to conventional knockdown sprays. Rather than poisoning insects on contact, it acts as an insect growth regulator and anti-feedant: affected insects stop feeding almost immediately, then stop moulting and lose interest in mating and egg-laying, so the pest population winds down over repeat applications. It is made by Organic Crop Protectants and is a registered organic input (BFA), so it can be used by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) growers.

It is important to know what AzaMax is registered for in Australia. Its label covers two-spotted mites, aphids and whitefly in floriculture and ornamentals, and fungus gnats in potting soil. The label carries a restraint that it must not be used on plants that produce food for human or animal consumption, so it is a product for ornamental plants, flowers and potting mix rather than fruit and vegetables. Always use it in line with the registered label.

Because AzaMax works by growth regulation rather than fast knockdown, it is best used as part of a preventative program, applied consistently while pests are active. It also stays active in the crop for up to around 14 days after spraying, and because insects need to feed on treated surfaces to be affected, its impact on beneficial insects is minor, which makes it a good fit for integrated pest management in ornamentals.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Neem-derived organic insecticide containing 11.82g/L azadirachtin (12,000 ppm)

  • Registered organic input (BFA), suitable for ACO-certified ornamental growers

  • Controls two-spotted mites, aphids and whitefly in floriculture and ornamentals

  • Controls fungus gnats in potting soil

  • Works as an insect growth regulator and anti-feedant, not a chemical knockdown

  • Stays active in the crop for up to around 14 days

  • Minor impact on beneficial insects, suiting integrated pest management

  • APVMA registered (approval no. 61980)

How to Use

Dilute AzaMax with water at the rate on the product label for your pest, then spray to give thorough, even coverage of the plant, including the undersides of leaves where mites and whitefly shelter. Because it is not a fast knockdown, consistent, repeat applications during pest activity are needed, and it works best used preventatively before pest numbers build. Many growers tank-mix the lower AzaMax rate with a horticultural oil such as Eco-Oil (around 5mL/L) to improve results. Always read and follow the label, including the restraint against use on food-producing plants.

Safety and Responsible Use

  • Read the label and safety directions before opening or using, and keep out of reach of children.

  • Do not use on food plants. The label restrains use on any plant that produces food for humans or animals. This product is for ornamentals, flowers and potting soil.

  • Protect waterways. AzaMax is dangerous to aquatic invertebrates. Do not contaminate streams, rivers, dams or drains with the product or used containers.

  • Handle with care. Avoid breathing the spray mist, and it is harmful if swallowed. Wear suitable protection when mixing and spraying.

  • Store and dispose of it responsibly as directed on the label.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the active ingredient in AzaMax?
It contains 11.82g/L azadirachtin, a botanical extract from the neem tree, in a 12,000 ppm emulsifiable concentrate. It works as an insect growth regulator and anti-feedant.

What pests and plants is it for?
In Australia it is registered for two-spotted mites, aphids and whitefly in floriculture and ornamentals, and fungus gnats in potting soil.

Can I use AzaMax on my vegetables or fruit?
No. The Australian label restrains use on plants that produce food for humans or animals, so it should only be used on ornamental plants, flowers and potting mix, not on edible crops.

Is it organic?
Yes. AzaMax is a registered organic input (BFA), so it can be used by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) growers as part of their program.

How quickly does it work?
It is not a fast knockdown. Insects stop feeding almost immediately, but the population declines over repeat applications through growth regulation, so it works best applied consistently and preventatively.

Where can I buy AzaMax 1L in Australia?
It is available online in the 1L size with local pickup in Bonnyrigg, NSW and courier delivery. Current pricing is shown on this page.
