Multicrop EcoPest Oil 1L: Organic Paraffin Oil Insect Spray for Scale, Mites and Aphids
Multicrop EcoPest Oil is a ready-to-use, NASAA-certified organic insect spray based on a high-purity paraffin (horticultural) oil. It's especially good on citrus and roses, and controls a range of sap-sucking and hard-to-reach pests including scale, mites, mealybug, citrus leafminer, whitefly and aphids. The oil works by physical action, coating the pests and blocking their breathing holes so they suffocate, while also deterring egg-laying and feeding. Because it works this way rather than through a persistent chemical, it breaks down quickly and isn't left lingering in the soil.
The active is paraffin oil (19.46g/L), a food-grade iso-paraffinic oil with a purity over 98%, higher than the usual industry standard. That high purity means better pest control with a lower risk of plant burn than cheaper oils. It suits citrus, grapes, pome and stone fruit, roses, and a wide range of indoor and outdoor ornamentals and vegetables.
As an organic-certified, low-toxicity option, it's a gentler alternative to harsh synthetic insecticides, and the 1L trigger bottle is ready to use with no mixing.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Ready-to-use organic paraffin oil insect spray
-
NASAA certified organic (3264M)
-
Active: paraffin oil 19.46g/L (food-grade iso-paraffinic, over 98% purity)
-
Controls scale, mites, mealybug, citrus leafminer, whitefly and aphids
-
Two-way action: blocks pests' breathing holes and deters egg-laying and feeding
-
Excellent on citrus and roses, plus grapes, pome and stone fruit and ornamentals
-
Higher oil purity for better control and less plant burn
-
Low toxicity to people and pets, breaks down quickly in the environment
How to Use
-
Shake well and spray at the first signs of pests
-
Spray both the upper and undersides of leaves and branches, to the point of run-off, so the oil coats the pests
-
For mealybugs and scale, apply two sprays about 7 days apart, and repeat if pests reappear
-
For citrus leafminer, begin when new flush growth is about 4cm long, spray every 5 to 14 days while there's new flush, and do not apply more than 8 times per season
-
Apply in the morning or evening when it's cooler, not in the heat of the day
Important Notes
-
Do not spray in hot weather (above about 32°C), in frost, or on drought-stressed plants, as oil can burn foliage under these conditions
-
Do not use within about 30 days of a sulphur spray (before or after), as oil and sulphur together can damage plants
-
Some plants are oil-sensitive (for example ferns, palms and certain conifers), so test on a small area first if you're unsure
-
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children and pets, and avoid freezing
-
Wash splashes off skin with soap and water, and wear gloves if you're sensitive to oils
-
Always read and follow the label directions before use
Getting the Best From It
-
Coverage is everything: it's a contact oil, so any pest you don't wet won't be controlled, which is why spraying under the leaves and to run-off matters
-
Catch infestations early when pest numbers are low
-
Spray in mild, still conditions to avoid both leaf burn and spray drift
-
Repeat as directed for the pest, since a single spray often won't clear an established infestation
FAQs
What does EcoPest Oil control?
Scale, mites, mealybug, citrus leafminer, whitefly and aphids, on citrus, grapes, pome and stone fruit, roses and a wide range of ornamentals and vegetables.
What's the active ingredient?
Paraffin oil at 19.46g/L, a food-grade iso-paraffinic oil with over 98% purity, which gives good control with less risk of plant burn.
How does an oil spray kill pests?
It coats the pests and blocks the breathing holes they use to breathe, so they suffocate. It also deters egg-laying and feeding. It needs to physically contact the pest to work.
When should I avoid spraying it?
