Legion Paint Tray Kit 230mm T660 – 9 Inch Roller Frame and Heavy Duty Paint Tray

Legion 230mm Paint Tray Kit with 9 Inch Roller Frame

The Legion T660 Paint Tray Kit pairs a 230mm (9 inch) roller frame and handle with a black plastic paint tray sized to suit it. The tray has a deep well to hold paint and a ribbed ramp for rolling off excess, so the roller loads evenly before it reaches the wall. It is a practical starter kit for painting walls, ceilings, doors, fences and sheds around the home and garden.

The Standard Size for Walls and Ceilings

A 230mm (9 inch) roller is the most common size for interior walls and ceilings in Australian homes. It covers a good area with each pass while still being light enough to control, and it fits most standard roller sleeves sold in hardware stores. That means you can swap sleeves to suit different paints and surfaces while using the same frame and tray.

Loading the Roller Evenly

The ribbed ramp in the tray is what makes a roller easy to use. After dipping the roller into the paint well, roll it back and forth a few times on the ribbed section. This spreads the paint evenly around the sleeve and removes the excess, which helps reduce drips, splatter and runs on the wall and gives a more even coat.

Indoor and Outdoor Painting Jobs

The kit suits water based paints for interior walls and ceilings, as well as exterior jobs such as timber fences, sheds, garage walls and garden structures. Paired with the right sleeve, the same frame and tray can be used for primers, undercoats and topcoats.

Painting Tips for a Better Finish

Before starting, wash or lightly vacuum a new roller sleeve to remove loose fibres, then dampen it with water for water based paint and spin off the excess. Fill the tray well only about a third full so paint does not spill when moving the tray. Load the roller and work in sections of about a metre square, rolling in a W or M pattern, then fill in without lifting the roller, finishing with light, even strokes in one direction. Cut in edges and corners with a brush first, then roll while the edges are still wet to avoid lap marks. To make cleanup easier, line the tray with a tray liner or plastic bag. Wash water based paint out of the tray and sleeve with water before it dries.
