Legion Paint Brush 63.5mm (2.5 Inch) – Synthetic Bristle Brush for Paints and Stains

Legion 63.5mm (2.5 Inch) Synthetic Bristle Paint Brush

The Legion 63.5mm Paint Brush is a 2.5 inch flat brush with soft synthetic bristles that pick up and release paint well for a smooth finish. It suits water based and oil based paints and stains, making it a practical all-rounder for trims, doors, window frames, skirting boards, furniture, fences and other DIY and renovation jobs around the home and garden.

A Versatile Middle Size

A 63.5mm brush sits between narrow trim brushes and wide wall brushes. It is wide enough to cover doors, cabinet panels, fence palings and weatherboards efficiently, yet narrow enough to control along edges, frames and skirting. That makes it a handy brush to own if you only want one or two brushes in the shed.

Synthetic Bristles for Modern Paints

Synthetic bristles hold their shape and stiffness in water based acrylic paints, which can make natural bristles go limp and floppy. They also work with oil based enamels and timber stains, so the same brush suits interior walls and trims as well as decks, fences and outdoor furniture. Soft bristle tips help lay the paint off smoothly and reduce visible brush marks.

Cutting In and Detail Work

This size is also useful for cutting in, the job of painting a clean edge where a wall meets a ceiling, trim or a different colour, before rolling the larger area. Load the brush lightly, press gently so the bristles fan into a fine edge, and draw it along the line in one smooth stroke.

Brush Care and Painting Tips

Before first use, flick the bristles against your hand and rinse the brush to remove any loose bristles. Dip only the first third of the bristles into the paint, then tap off the excess on the inside of the tin rather than wiping it across the rim, which keeps more paint on the brush and less on the tin edge. Paint in the direction of the grain on timber and finish each section with light, long strokes. Clean the brush straight after use: warm soapy water for water based paint, or mineral turps for oil based paint and stains, following the paint tin directions. Reshape the bristles and let the brush dry hanging or lying flat so they keep their shape.
