Legion Brown Hemp Rope 100g – Natural Fibre Garden Twine for Plants, Crafts and Gift Wrapping

Legion Brown Hemp Rope, 100g Natural Fibre Twine

Legion Brown Hemp Rope is a 100g roll of natural fibre twine for tying, bundling and crafting. It is soft enough to tie plants and shrubs without cutting into stems, strong enough to bundle branches and prunings for council clean ups, and has a rustic look that suits gift wrapping, card making, decorations and other crafts. Being natural fibre, it is biodegradable, so offcuts can break down rather than lingering as plastic.

Gentle Ties for Plants and Shrubs

Natural fibre twine is a gardener's favourite for tying in plants because it has a little give and a slightly rough surface that grips without biting into soft stems. Use it to tie tomatoes, beans and peas to stakes and trellises, train climbers along wires, gather up floppy perennials, and loosely tie young trees to support stakes. Because it gradually weakens and breaks down outdoors, it is less likely to strangle a growing stem if forgotten, though ties should still be checked and loosened regularly.

Bundling Prunings for Council Clean Ups

Many Australian councils collect garden prunings and branches during kerbside clean ups, and often ask that branches be tied into bundles of a manageable size. Natural twine is ideal for this job, as it holds the bundle together for collection and breaks down with the green waste afterwards. Check your local council's rules on bundle size and weight before putting branches out.

Crafts, Wrapping and Decorations

The natural brown colour and rustic texture make this twine popular for crafts and styling. Use it for wrapping gifts and parcels, hanging tags and labels, card making, jar and bottle decorations, wedding and party styling, simple macrame and jewellery making, and hanging lightweight decorations around the home.

Tips for Using Garden Twine

When tying plants to stakes, use a figure-eight loop: wrap the twine around the stake, cross it over between stake and stem, then loop it loosely around the stem. This leaves room for the stem to grow and stops it rubbing against the stake. Check ties every few weeks during the growing season and loosen them as stems thicken. For outdoor jobs that need to last for years, such as permanent trellises or tie-downs, a synthetic rope will outlast natural fibre. Store the roll somewhere dry, as damp twine can go mouldy and weaken.
