Slasher Organic Weedkiller is a fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide made by OCP (eco-organic garden). The active constituent is 525g/L nonanoic acid, also known as pelargonic acid, a fatty acid that occurs naturally in plants including geraniums. It's a glyphosate-free, certified organic weedkiller that controls weeds, moss, algae and lichen, and this is the concentrate that you dilute with water before spraying.

How It Works

Slasher works on contact. Once sprayed onto the foliage, it rapidly breaks down the outer layers of the green plant tissue, causing the plant to dehydrate and collapse. You'll usually see browning and wilting within about an hour of application, though tough weeds or those in shade can take a little longer. Because it's a contact spray, it needs to physically wet all the green parts of the weed to work, and partial coverage will only give partial control.

What It Controls & Where

It's non-selective, so it controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds and grasses, as well as moss, algae and lichen. Use it in garden beds, paths, driveways, around buildings, and for spot spraying in lawns. It's a good choice for situations where you'd rather avoid conventional herbicides, such as around children and pets, near edible crops, and in organic gardens, since it's non-residual in the soil and biodegrades within a few days.

How to Use

Half fill your sprayer and start agitating, add the required amount of Slasher, then top up with water and agitate well. As a general guide from the label, the concentrate is diluted at around 70ml per litre of water, but always check the rate on the back of your bottle for your situation. Shake the sprayer occasionally while you work to keep it mixed. Spray to completely cover the weed foliage, apply when the temperature is above 10°C for best results, and reapply after about 7 days if needed. Only mix as much as you'll use.

Safety & Handling

Slasher will irritate the eyes and may irritate the skin, so wear safety glasses and gloves, avoid contact with eyes and skin, and wash your hands after use. It's non-toxic once dried, and children, pets and grazing animals can return to the treated area safely after the spray has dried. Keep it out of reach of children, and don't spray porous surfaces without testing first, as it may mark them. Always read the full label and safety directions before use.
