Description
Glyphosate 450 Herbicide 1L: Liquid Concentrate Weed Killer
Glyphosate 450 is a concentrated, systemic herbicide for controlling a wide range of weeds, including annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds and tough woody plants. It contains 450 g/L glyphosate and is a Group M (Group 9) herbicide, the same widely used active found in products like Roundup, in a higher-strength 450 formulation.
It works by being absorbed through the foliage and green stems, then translocating through the whole plant and down into the roots. That's what gives complete control of the entire plant rather than just burning off the top growth, and it's why glyphosate is effective on established perennial weeds. The concentrated 450 formula means a little goes a long way, making it cost-effective for agricultural, forestry, industrial and non-crop weed management.
No Soil Residual
An important point about glyphosate: it is inactivated as soon as it contacts the soil and provides no residual weed control. This is actually one of its strengths. Because it leaves no lasting residue in the ground, you can replant or sow a treated area once the existing weeds have died off (the one exception being that it shouldn't be used immediately before transplanting tomato seedlings). If you specifically need residual, long-term weed prevention, glyphosate can be tank-mixed with certain residual herbicides, or you'd choose a different product.
How to Use
Glyphosate 450 mixes readily with clean water. For knapsack or handgun spraying, a general rate is around 8 to 9 mL per litre of water for many common weeds, increasing for larger, perennial or woody weeds. When spraying in high volume, adding a non-ionic wetting agent (around 200 mL per 100 L of spray) improves uptake. Always check the label's weeds-controlled tables for the correct rate for your target weed.
For best results, spray when weeds are healthy and actively growing, not stressed by drought, frost or waterlogging. Avoid spraying if rain is likely within 6 hours, and don't disturb treated weeds for at least 1 day (annual weeds) or 7 days (perennial weeds) so the chemical can fully translocate. Use clean water, as dirty or hard water can reduce glyphosate's effectiveness. Visible effects typically show in 3 to 7 days on annual weeds and 2 to 3 weeks on perennials.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the active ingredient in Glyphosate 450?
It contains 450 g/L glyphosate, a Group M (EPSP synthase inhibitor) herbicide, in a systemic liquid concentrate.
What is the mixing rate for Glyphosate 450 per litre of water?
For knapsack or handgun spraying, a general guide is around 8 to 9 mL per litre of water for common weeds, using more for perennial and woody weeds. A non-ionic wetter is recommended for high-volume spraying. Always follow the label rate for your target weed.
What's the difference between Glyphosate 360 and 450?
The number is the concentration of glyphosate: 360 g/L versus 450 g/L. The 450 is more concentrated, so you use slightly less product to get the same amount of active ingredient. Both work the same way.
Does Glyphosate 450 have soil residual?
No. Glyphosate 450 is inactivated on contact with soil and provides no residual control. This means treated areas can be replanted once the weeds have died, apart from transplanting tomato seedlings. For residual control, it must be tank-mixed with a suitable residual herbicide.
How long does Glyphosate 450 take to work?
Visible effects usually appear in 3 to 7 days on annual weeds and 2 to 3 weeks on perennial weeds, and can be slower in cool or cloudy conditions.
Will Glyphosate 450 kill my lawn?
Yes. It will kill or damage lawn grass and any desirable plants it contacts, so it can't be used to selectively remove weeds from a lawn. Use it only where you intend to kill everything sprayed.
Can I use it before planting?
Yes. Because it leaves no soil residue, it's commonly used to clear weeds before sowing or planting, with the exception of transplanting tomato seedlings.
Is treated ground safe for grazing stock?
There's no required withholding period, but it's best practice to remove stock before spraying and return them after 1 day for annual weeds or 7 days for perennial weeds to allow full absorption.
