Rijk Zwaan Craig RZ F1 Mini Cucumber Seeds – 500 Seeds, Blueleaf® Lebanese Cucumber

Craig RZ 500 Seeds: A Blueleaf® Lebanese Cucumber Proven in Australian Trials

Craig RZ F1 is a mini (Lebanese) cucumber from Rijk Zwaan that has performed strongly in Australian trials across the spring, summer and autumn production cycles. It is a multi-fruited variety combined with the Blueleaf® trait, which helps keep the crop healthier and productive over a longer period. This 500 seed pack is sized for commercial growers, market gardens and greenhouse operations planting at scale.

What Is the Blueleaf® Trait?

Blueleaf is a set of traits Rijk Zwaan has bred into a line of its cucumber varieties, recognisable by the plants' darker, blue-green leaves. That colour comes from extra chlorophyll, which lets the plant use available light more efficiently. Blueleaf plants also develop a stronger root system and a better balance between leafy growth and fruit set, which delays yellowing and keeps the crop active for longer. A greener, more active crop copes better with sudden changes in temperature and light, and Rijk Zwaan describes Blueleaf as giving growers a form of field resilience that helps keep plants healthier through the season.

Longer Production From Every Planting

For commercial growers, the real value of Blueleaf is time. When a crop stays green and active for longer, each planting keeps producing quality fruit further into the season before it needs replacing. Combined with Craig RZ's multi-fruiting habit and strong, open plant, that means steady harvests, good fruit quality and high yield potential across the cycle, with fewer gaps between plantings.

An Open Plant That's Easy to Work

Craig RZ grows as a strong, open plant with a good balance between growth and fruit production. An open crop lets more light reach the lower leaves and fruit, improves airflow through the canopy, and makes pruning and picking quicker for workers moving along the rows. It is a practical variety for greenhouse, polytunnel and field production.

Best Planting Cycle for Craig RZ

Craig RZ is suited to spring, summer and autumn production, with its best harvest window from late spring through to early autumn. In most Australian growing regions, that means sowing from late winter in heated or protected structures, and from spring outdoors or in unheated polytunnels once temperatures are reliably warm. Staggered sowings every few weeks through this window keep a steady supply of fruit and allow older plants to be replaced as their output slows.
