Rijk Zwaan Khassib RZ F1 Mini Cucumber Seeds – 500 Seed Grower Pack

Khassib RZ 500 Seeds: A Proven Variety for Commercial Mini Cucumber Crops

This 500 seed grower pack of Rijk Zwaan Khassib RZ F1 is made for market gardeners, greenhouse growers and larger-scale producers. Khassib RZ has earned a sound reputation in Australia for yield and quality, and is a market-standard multi-fruited mini cucumber for the summer production cycle, as well as the winter cycle in tropical areas. It produces glossy, dark green, ribbed Lebanese cucumbers around 14 to 16cm long, the size and look buyers expect.

Why Commercial Growers Choose Khassib RZ

For a commercial crop, a variety has to deliver on yield, labour and saleability. Khassib RZ develops a strong root system early in the cycle, building a well-balanced plant that keeps producing fruit over a long harvest window. Its multi-fruiting habit and good balance between plant growth and fruit production support steady, regular picks instead of peaks and gaps. Good shelf life helps fruit hold its quality through packing, transport and retail display, reducing waste and rejects.

Labour-Friendly Plants Save Time

Labour is one of the biggest costs in cucumber production. Khassib RZ has an open plant habit with short laterals and small leaves, so there's less leaf removal and side-shoot pruning to do each week. The open canopy also improves light penetration and airflow through the crop, and makes fruit quick to spot and harvest. It suits high-wire systems in greenhouses and polytunnels as well as soil-grown crops.

Planning Your Crop Schedule

Khassib RZ is best suited to spring, summer and early autumn production across most of Australia, and to winter production in tropical regions. With 500 seeds in the pack, growers can plan staggered sowings every few weeks to keep a continuous supply of fruit and replace older plants as their productivity drops. As a general guide, protected cropping systems are often planted at around 1.5 to 2.5 plants per square metre, depending on the growing system and training method.

Storing Your Seed Between Sowings

Keep any unused seed in its original sealed packet inside an airtight container, in a cool, dry and dark place. A fridge (not freezer) with a sachet of silica gel works well for holding seed between sowings. Avoid heat, humidity and repeated opening, as these reduce germination over time. Label the container with the variety and purchase date so older seed is used first.
