Wooden Dog Gate 4 Panel – Freestanding Folding Pet Fence, White, 189cm Wide

4 Panel Wooden Dog Gate: Block Off Wide Openings Without Drilling

This 4 panel freestanding dog gate is sized for the openings that standard pressure-fit gates can't cover, such as wide doorways, archways, and the gap between a kitchen and an open-plan living area. Four hinged white panels stretch up to 189cm, and a support leg keeps the gate standing on its own. There's nothing to screw into walls or door frames, so it's a great fit for rental homes, apartments and anyone who doesn't want holes in the paintwork.

The In-Between Size for Open-Plan Homes

Modern Australian homes often have wide open-plan spaces where a 3 panel gate is too short, but a 6 panel is more than you need. At 189cm, the 4 panel gate covers most wide doorways, kitchen entries and hallway openings with room to angle the panels for stability. Fold it into a zigzag across an opening, or an L-shape to block off a corner of the lounge room as a dog zone.

Floor-Friendly and Easy to Move

Anti-scratch rubber feet grip the floor and protect timber, tiles and vinyl from marks, so you can move the gate around during the day without worry. The white MDF panels with stainless steel hinges look neat against most interiors, and the whole gate folds flat to slide behind a door or couch when you don't need it. No tools or assembly required.

How to Keep Dogs Out of Rooms Without Drilling Walls

A freestanding gate is the easiest drill-free option. Set it across the doorway with the end panels angled slightly into the room, or with the ends resting against the door frame, so it can't be pushed through. For wide spaces, fold the panels into a gentle zigzag, which makes the gate much harder to tip or slide. Other drill-free ideas include keeping doors closed with a doorstop, using baby gates that fit by tension (for standard-width doorways), and training your dog with a "wait" or "place" command at room thresholds. For long-term success, reward your dog for staying on the right side of the gate.

Are Freestanding Gates Stable for Medium Dogs?

For medium dogs that are calm and respect a barrier, a freestanding gate like this works well. It stays steadiest when the panels are angled rather than straight, and when the ends rest against a wall or frame. The 60.5cm height suits most small to medium breeds, but a medium dog that is very bouncy, jumps up on furniture or throws its weight at barriers may be able to push or clear it. If that sounds like your dog, a taller gate that fixes to the wall will be more secure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are freestanding wooden pet gates stable enough for medium dogs?
Yes, for calm medium dogs that respect a barrier. Angle the panels and rest the ends against a wall or frame. Very bouncy dogs that jump or push may need a taller, wall-fixed gate.

How can I keep dogs out of rooms without drilling walls?
Use a freestanding gate like this one across the doorway, angled for stability. Combine it with training such as a "wait" command at the door.

How wide does the 4 panel gate extend?
It extends to 189cm when fully opened, and a little less when the panels are angled for stability.

Does it need assembly?
No. It comes ready to use and folds flat for storage.

Can I use it at the top of the stairs?
No. Freestanding gates aren't suitable for stairways. Use a wall-fixed gate for stairs.
