Wooden Dog Fence Pet Gate 3 Panel – Compact Freestanding Foldable Dog Gate, White, 142cm Wide

3 Panel Wooden Pet Gate: A Compact Barrier for Doorways and Hallways

This 3 panel wooden dog gate is a simple, freestanding way to block off a doorway, hallway or kitchen entry without screwing anything into the walls. Three hinged panels stretch up to 142cm wide and fold into a zigzag or corner shape to fit your space. Made from MDF with a clean white finish, it blends in with most homes, protects floors with anti-scratch rubber feet, and folds flat to store when you don't need it.

Right-Sized for Standard Openings

Most internal doorways and hallways in Australian homes are well under 1.4m wide, so a 3 panel gate covers them easily without taking over the room. It's a neat fit for keeping a puppy out of the bedroom, stopping a dog wandering into the kitchen, or creating a quiet corner for a pet to rest. Because it's freestanding, you can move it from room to room during the day as needed.

Stable Without Screws

A support leg on the middle panel adds stability, and the hinged panels can be angled into a Z or U shape so the gate stands firmly on its own. Rubber feet grip the floor while protecting timber, tiles and vinyl from scratches. With no wall fixings, it's ideal for rental homes and apartments.

Is a 3 Panel Gate Sturdy Enough for Medium Dogs?

For calm, well-behaved medium dogs that respect a barrier, yes. The support leg and angled panels keep it steady, and at 10.8kg it has good weight for a freestanding gate. However, a freestanding gate isn't fixed in place, so a large, excitable or determined dog can push it along the floor or jump the 60.5cm height. To get the most stability, angle the panels in a Z shape rather than setting them in a straight line, place it across a doorway so the ends rest against the frame, and use it on a flat, non-slippery floor. If your dog regularly jumps up or charges barriers, a taller gate that fixes to the wall is the better option.

3 Panel vs 6 Panel Pet Gates

The main difference is coverage. A 3 panel gate, at 142cm, suits single doorways, hallways and small spaces, and is lighter and quicker to move around. A 6 panel gate extends to around 284cm, making it better for wide openings, open-plan living areas, or folding into a small pen or enclosure. If you want to block one door at a time, the 3 panel is the practical pick; if you need to section off a larger area or create a pet zone, choose the 6 panel version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a 3 panel wooden pet gate sturdy enough for medium dogs without wall anchors?
It suits calm medium dogs that respect a barrier. Angle the panels in a Z shape and set it between a door frame for the best stability. Large or excitable dogs may push or jump a freestanding gate.

What is the difference between 3 panel and 6 panel pet gates?
A 3 panel gate covers up to 142cm, ideal for doorways and hallways. A 6 panel gate extends to around 284cm, better for wide openings or making a pet enclosure.

How wide does the 3 panel gate extend?
It extends to 142cm when fully opened in a line, and a little less when angled for stability.

Does it need to be fixed to the wall?
No. It's freestanding, with a support leg and rubber feet.

Can I use it at the top of the stairs?
No. Freestanding gates aren't suitable for stairways. Use a wall-fixed gate for stairs.
