Vella Poultry Supreme: A Complete Layer Pellet Chicken Feed
Vella Poultry Supreme Lay, Show, Breed is a complete, high-protein macro-pelleted poultry feed made by The Vella Group (Vella Stock Feeds) for laying hens, ducks, geese, quail, pheasants and show birds. With 17.5% crude protein, 4.5% calcium and around 2,800 kcal/kg of energy, it supports egg production, shell quality, feather condition and body condition. It suits both hybrid and heritage breeds and includes probiotics, prebiotics and natural betaine. Australian made and available in 1kg, 2kg, 4kg and 20kg bags.
Lay, Show and Breed Nutrition
Poultry Supreme is built for more than everyday laying:
- Laying hens: protein and calcium for steady egg production and strong shells.
- Show birds: consistent nutrition for feather and body condition.
- Breeding birds: species-specific vitamins and minerals to support breeding flocks.
Its small macro pellets suit birds as small as quail, as well as hens, ducks, geese and pheasants.
Are Pellets Good for Laying Hens?
Yes. Every pellet contains the same balanced nutrition, so hens can't pick out their favourite bits and leave the rest, as they can with grain mixes. Pellets also create less dust and waste than mash, and they stay fresher in feeders.
Gut Health and Heat Support
- Probiotics and prebiotics: support beneficial gut bacteria.
- Natural betaine: helps birds cope during periods of heat stress, useful through hot Australian summers.
- Vegetable protein: uses plant protein sources, with no restricted animal materials (RAM).
- No added hormones or antibiotics.
The raw materials are steam-conditioned before pelleting for a consistent pellet.
What Is the Best Feed for Laying Hens?
A complete layer feed with around 16 to 18% protein and enough calcium for shell production, fed as the main part of the diet. Greens, scraps and treats should be kept to around 10% of what hens eat, so they don't dilute the balanced nutrition in the pellets.
