The Nutri-Pellet Difference

A plain scratch grain is really just a treat, grains on their own don't carry the full range of vitamins and minerals a laying hen needs. Vella solves this by blending in a Nutri-Pellet, a nutrient shortcut pellet that packs in canola and soybean meal, lucerne meal, amino acids, calcium, phosphorus and a species-specific vitamin premix. That lifts the mix from a treat to a more complete grain-based feed, and because those nutrients are locked into the pellet, it also reduces wasteful fines (the nutritious dust that birds otherwise leave behind). The Nutri-Pellet is steam conditioned before pelleting, which aids digestibility and nutrient uptake.

How to Feed

Vella Free Range Scratch Mix is flexible. It's formulated for all breeds of layers from point of lay (around 18 to 20 weeks of age), and it can be fed:

• As a treat or scatter feed to encourage natural foraging

• Blended with Vella Free Range Layer Pellets or Poultry Supreme for a more complete ration

Always provide fresh, clean water, and offer shell grit or a calcium source separately for strong eggshells. For a fully balanced diet, many keepers blend it with a layer pellet, and give birds access to greens, pasture and scraps as well.
