ROOTOX 114g (4 Tablets): Sewer Pipe Root Control
ROOTOX is a David Grays product for controlling tree and plant roots inside sewer pipes in and around the home. Invasive roots find their way into old or cracked piping and gradually build up until they block the pipe, leading to slow drains, backups and expensive plumbing call-outs. ROOTOX tackles those roots inside the pipe before they cause a blockage. Each 114g pack contains 4 slow-release tablets, and the active ingredient is 232 g/kg copper (as copper sulphate pentahydrate).
How It Works
ROOTOX is designed to be used through your toilet, not placed in the soil. You simply drop a tablet into the toilet bowl and flush it down into the S-bend, where it lodges and slowly dissolves a little with each flush over about a week. As it dissolves, the copper travels through the sewer line and kills the fine roots growing inside the pipe, clearing the intrusion and helping keep the line flowing.
Because it only acts on the roots inside the pipe, ROOTOX won't harm the trees or shrubs growing above ground, and it's suitable for use with septic systems.
How to Use
-
Drop one tablet into the toilet bowl.
-
Flush it down so it moves out of the bowl and into the S-bend, don't leave it sitting in the bowl, as the copper can stain.
-
The slow-release tablet keeps working for about a week as it dissolves.
-
For heavily wooded areas or pipes that have blocked before, apply more often, and use it as a regular maintenance treatment after a plumber has cleared roots to help stop regrowth.
Only use ROOTOX via the toilet. Do not put tablets in sinks or tub drains, and keep them out of reach of children and pets.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the active ingredient in ROOTOX?
It contains 232 g/kg copper, as copper sulphate pentahydrate, in a slow-release tablet form.
How do I use ROOTOX?
Drop one tablet into the toilet bowl and flush it into the S-bend, where it lodges and slowly dissolves with each flush over about a week. Don't leave it sitting in the bowl, and don't use it in sinks or tub drains.
Will ROOTOX kill my trees?
No. ROOTOX only affects the roots growing inside the sewer pipe, not the tree or shrub above ground, so it clears the pipe without killing your plants.
Can I use ROOTOX in a septic system?
Yes. It's suitable for use with septic systems when used as directed.
How often should I use it?
For an active root problem, follow the pack directions. For heavily wooded areas or pipes that have blocked before, apply more frequently, and use it as an ongoing maintenance treatment, including after a plumber has cleared roots, to help prevent regrowth.
Can I put the tablets directly in a drain or in the ground?
No. ROOTOX is designed to be flushed through the toilet so it can travel through the sewer line. Placing tablets in other drains or in the soil won't work and isn't how the product is intended to be used.
How many tablets are in a pack?
This 114g pack contains 4 tablets.
Where can I buy ROOTOX in Australia?
You can buy it from BPG Supplies, with Australia-wide shipping.
