Description

Brunnings Sphagnum Moss is a natural moss with excellent moisture-holding properties, supplied as a compact 150g compressed block that expands up to 10 litres once rehydrated. Part of the Brunnings Propagation range, it is a versatile garden staple for orchids, ferns, hanging baskets and potted plants.

Use it as a decorative top dressing for pots, a liner for hanging baskets, or a backing material for staghorn and elkhorn ferns. The compressed block is easy to store and only takes a few minutes to prepare.

Sphagnum Moss for Orchids, Staghorn & Elkhorn Ferns

Epiphytic plants like orchids, staghorns and elkhorns grow on trees in nature, not in soil, and do best with a light, moisture-retaining material around their roots. Sphagnum moss is a popular choice for mounting these plants onto boards, slabs and tree fern logs.

Its natural fibres hold water and nutrients close to the roots while still allowing airflow, helping keep mounted and potted plants evenly moist between waterings.

Hanging Basket Liner & Decorative Top Dressing for Pots

Sphagnum moss makes an attractive, natural liner for wire hanging baskets and potted plants, helping hold mix in place and retain water and nutrients in the basket.

As a top dressing or surface mulch for pots, tubs and planter boxes, it reduces moisture loss through evaporation and gives indoor and outdoor containers a neat, finished look.
