RATSAK Double Strength Bait Station 250g: Ready-to-Use Rat and Mouse Bait
RATSAK Double Strength 250g is a single, ready-to-use bait station that kills both rats and mice, with no need to touch the pellets. You tear back the flap, place it where you've seen rodent activity, and top it up until the feeding stops. At 250g it's the smallest pack in the range, which makes it the one to reach for on a small or localised problem, a single room, a caravan, a garden shed, or as an extra station alongside a bigger baiting job.
It uses the original trusted RATSAK formula built around warfarin, and it's the multiple-feed version of the range rather than the fast-action one, which is what gives it a lower secondary poisoning risk to pets and wildlife.
No Handling the Bait
The pack is the bait station. Push the tab, tear back the flap to expose the pellets, and it's ready. If you'd rather, you can pour the pellets into your own small containers and set them out in lots of 25g for mice or 125g for rats. Either way you avoid touching the bait, which matters more than it sounds: rodents are wary of anything carrying a human scent, so untouched bait gets taken faster.
Why It's a Multiple-Feed Bait
The active ingredient is warfarin, a first-generation anticoagulant. Rather than delivering a lethal dose in a single feed like the fast-action baits do, warfarin needs the rodent to feed repeatedly over several days for the dose to build up. That's why you keep the bait available continuously, check it every 1 to 2 days, and replace what's been eaten until it's left untouched. Plan on maintaining an uninterrupted supply for at least 14 days, since if the bait runs out partway through, rodents that were feeding can recover.
Lower Risk to Pets and Wildlife
Warfarin breaks down faster and is far less persistent than second-generation actives like brodifacoum. If a pet or a native bird eats a rodent that has fed on the bait, the secondary poisoning risk is lower, which is why a first-generation bait like this is often preferred around homes with pets or near wildlife. The pellets also carry a bittering agent that makes them taste unpleasant, helping stop children and pets swallowing them by accident.
That said, this is about secondary poisoning. The bait is still poisonous if a pet or child eats the pellets directly, so keep the station somewhere they can't reach.
How to Set It Up
Place the station where there are signs of rodent activity, along walls or rafters and in dark, sheltered spots. Keep it under cover, never out in the open. Don't exceed 3m between baits for mice or 9m for rats. For mice, several small stations spread around work better than one; for rats, one or two stations in the right spot do the job. Bait the whole area at the same time, and write down where you've placed stations so you can top them up and collect them later.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the active ingredient in RATSAK Double Strength?
Warfarin, a first-generation anticoagulant. It stops the rodent's blood from clotting and takes repeated feeds over several days rather than a single feed.
Is this the same as RATSAK Fast Action?
No. Double Strength uses warfarin and is a multiple-feed bait, so rodents feed over several days. Fast Action uses brodifacoum and can work from a single feed. Double Strength's slower action is what gives it the lower secondary poisoning risk to pets and wildlife.
How long does it take to work?
As a multiple-feed bait, rodents feed over several days before it takes effect, and it works for up to two weeks. Keep the bait available continuously and check the station every 1 to 2 days, topping up until feeding stops.
Is one 250g station enough?
For a small or localised problem, one station is often enough. For a heavier infestation, or for mice spread across an area, you'll get better control running several stations, so a larger pack or multiple 250g stations may suit better.
Is it safe to use around chickens and other poultry?
This bait is hazardous to poultry, as well as pigs, cats, dogs and native wildlife, so it must not be placed where birds or other animals can reach the pellets or eat a poisoned rodent. Near a chook shed, use a secured, tamper-resistant station kept well away from your birds and their feed.
Do I have to touch the bait?
No. It's a ready-to-use station, you just tear back the flap. Avoiding contact also keeps the bait more attractive to rodents.
What should I do if my dog or cat eats the bait?
Contact your vet immediately and take the pack or label with you. Warfarin poisoning has an established antidote (vitamin K1) that vets can give, and acting quickly makes a real difference.
Where can I buy RATSAK Double Strength 250g in Australia?
You can buy the single 250g bait station from BPG Supplies, shipped Australia-wide.
