Ausperl Vermiculite Grade 3 (Medium) 100L – Horticultural Vermiculite for Potting & Propagation

Lightweight Horticultural Vermiculite for Potting and Propagation

Vermiculite is one of the most versatile minerals used in horticulture. A hydrated magnesium aluminium silicate, it is lightweight, inorganic and non-combustible, highly absorbent and non-reactive, which is why it turns up in so many growing applications, from potting soils to propagation mixes. This is Ausperl Grade 3 (Medium), with a granule size of around 3mm to 6mm, supplied in a 100 litre bag for gardeners, nurseries and growers.

Why Growers Use Vermiculite

Added to a mix, vermiculite opens it up and improves aeration while holding onto moisture and nutrients, giving roots the balance of air and water they need. Its high water-holding capacity keeps mixes evenly moist, and its high cation-exchange helps hold and release nutrients to the plant. It is ultra-light, non-abrasive and slightly alkaline (readily balanced with peat), and being a processed mineral it is free from disease, weeds and insects, so it will not introduce problems into your mix.

Grade 3 Medium Granule

The Grade 3 medium granule, at around 3mm to 6mm, is a good all-round size for horticulture. It blends well into potting and propagation mixes to improve structure, moisture retention and aeration, and it is widely used for seed germination, striking cuttings and raising young plants. The medium grade gives useful water-holding without the mix staying soggy.
