Amgrow Tomcat II Rat & Mice Pellets: Single-Feed Anticoagulant Bait
Tomcat II pellets are a powerful single-feed rodent bait, carrying the same potent active as the well-known cog-shaped Tomcat II Blox but in convenient pellet form. It's designed for tough rodent problems, including populations that have built up resistance to older warfarin baits. The pellets are highly compressed and fresh-tasting, holding up well in damp or difficult conditions where softer baits fall apart. Tomcat is made by Bell Laboratories, recognised worldwide as a leader in rodent control.
How It Works
Tomcat II uses a potent second-generation anticoagulant. Anticoagulants kill by stopping the blood from clotting, so a rodent that takes a lethal dose dies of internal bleeding over the following days. What sets a second-generation active apart is that a rat or mouse can take in a lethal dose in a single feed, rather than needing to return over several days. Because it's stronger, less bait is needed to do the job, and it also controls rodents that have become resistant to warfarin, which is where older first-generation baits can fall short.
Why the Pellet Form
The pellets are hard and highly compressed, which does two useful things. They hold together and stay palatable in adverse or moist conditions that would spoil a softer bait, and they satisfy a rodent's constant urge to gnaw, which encourages feeding and improves acceptance. Good palatability matters, because a bait only works if the rodents actually take it, and Tomcat II is known for strong rodent acceptance.
Where and How to Use It
Use Tomcat II in and around buildings, sheds and structures where rats and mice are active, following the label directions. For safety and better results, place the pellets in tamper-resistant bait stations rather than loose, especially anywhere pets, children, livestock or wildlife could reach them. Put stations where you've seen droppings, gnawing or runs, along walls and in dark, sheltered spots, and check and top them up as directed until feeding stops. Always read and follow the label before use.
Important: This Is a Second-Generation Bait
It's worth understanding the trade-off with a bait this strong. Second-generation anticoagulants are more potent and persist longer in a poisoned rodent's body than first-generation baits, which means they carry a higher risk of secondary poisoning: a pet, bird or other animal that eats a poisoned rodent is at greater risk than with a milder first-generation product. For that reason, these baits are intended for use in and around buildings, not for broadcasting in the open, and it's important to search for and remove dead rodents promptly during and after baiting so they can't be eaten by other animals.
Keeping Pets, Children and Wildlife Safe
Keep the bait and any poisoned carcasses away from children, pets, livestock and non-target wildlife. Use tamper-resistant stations, place them out of reach, and collect and dispose of dead rodents as you find them. If a dog, cat or child swallows the bait, or you suspect they have, contact a vet or doctor immediately and take the pack with you. Anticoagulant poisoning has an effective antidote, vitamin K1 (phytomenadione), and acting quickly makes a real difference. Early signs in a pet can include lethargy and pale gums.
Available Sizes
Tomcat II Rat & Mice Pellets come in 1kg, 1.8kg, 2.5kg and 10kg packs, so you can match the pack to the size of the problem, from a single shed through to an ongoing baiting program across a larger property.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Tomcat II work?
It's a single-feed anticoagulant. It stops the blood clotting, so a rodent that takes a lethal dose dies of internal bleeding over the following days. Rats and mice can take a lethal dose in just one feed.
Does it control warfarin-resistant rodents?
Yes. As a second-generation anticoagulant, it controls rats and mice that have become resistant to older warfarin baits.
Where should I use it?
In and around buildings, sheds and structures where rodents are active, ideally in tamper-resistant bait stations. It's not intended for broadcasting in the open, and it should be kept away from anywhere pets, children or wildlife can reach.
Is it safe around pets and wildlife?
It needs care. As a potent second-generation bait, it carries a higher secondary poisoning risk than milder first-generation baits, meaning a pet or bird that eats a poisoned rodent is at greater risk. Use bait stations, keep it out of reach, and remove dead rodents promptly.
What should I do if my dog eats the bait?
Contact your vet immediately and take the pack with you. There's an effective antidote, vitamin K1, and prompt treatment makes a real difference. Watch for lethargy and pale gums.
Why pellets instead of blocks?
The compressed pellets hold up well in damp or adverse conditions and satisfy a rodent's urge to gnaw, which helps acceptance. They carry the same active as the Tomcat II Blox.
What sizes are available?
1kg, 1.8kg, 2.5kg and 10kg.
Where can I buy Amgrow Tomcat II in Australia?
You can buy Tomcat II Rat & Mice Pellets from BPG Supplies, shipped Australia-wide.
