Systemic Fungicide for Powdery Mildew
Adama Nimrod is a systemic fungicide for the control of powdery mildew in apples, melons (except watermelons) and ornamentals. The active constituent is 250g/L bupirimate, and it's supplied as an easy-to-handle liquid in a 5 litre pack. It combines both eradicant and protectant action, so it treats existing powdery mildew and helps protect new growth, and it offers a unique mode of action for powdery mildew control.
How It Works
Nimrod's bupirimate is the only Group 8 (pyrimidine) fungicide registered in Australia, which makes it a valuable tool in a resistance-management program alongside fungicides from other groups. It works through contact, translaminar, systemic and vapour activity, moving within the plant and through the leaf to control mildew even on unsprayed leaf surfaces, and it becomes rainfast after it spreads through the leaf. Because it has a different mode of action, it's a useful rotation partner to reduce the risk of resistance developing.
What It Controls & Where
It's registered for powdery mildew in apples, melons (except watermelons) and ornamentals. It also has negligible effects on beneficial insects including bees, ladybeetles and predatory mites, which makes it well suited to integrated pest management (IPM) programs where you want to preserve beneficials.
How to Use
Nimrod is diluted with water and sprayed for thorough coverage. Rates and withholding periods vary by crop and state registration, so always follow the directions for use on the product label. As a general guide from the label, melons are treated at around 60ml per 100L with thorough coverage at 7-day intervals. For ornamentals, it's advisable to test a small area for tolerance before treating a whole crop, since some ornamental varieties can be sensitive. To manage resistance, use Nimrod in a program with other mildew fungicides that have a different mode of action, rather than relying on it alone. Read the attached leaflet before use.
Safety & Handling
This is an agricultural chemical, marked Caution, and contains a hydrocarbon solvent, so it's flammable and an irritant. Keep it away from flames, sparks and heat. Wear gloves, eye protection and suitable protective clothing when mixing and spraying, and wash your hands after use. Don't re-enter treated areas until the spray has dried. It's harmful to aquatic life, so keep it away from drains, dams and waterways. Store it in the closed original container in a cool, well-ventilated place away from children. Always read the full label and safety directions before use.
