Natural Wooden Cage Perch Sticks for Small Birds (2 Pack)
These natural wooden perch sticks give your small birds a comfortable, foot-friendly place to stand and rest inside the cage. Supplied as a pack of two, each perch has a metal fixing that screws onto the cage bars, so you can mount them wherever your birds like to sit and add perching spots at different heights.
Natural timber is kinder on birds' feet than smooth, uniform plastic, because the slightly varied surface lets the feet grip and shift position, which helps prevent the pressure sores that can come from standing on the same spot all day. The wood also gives beaks something to nibble, and being a plain, untreated perch it slots neatly into most small bird cages without fuss.
They suit small birds such as budgies, canaries, finches and other small cage birds. With two perches in the pack, you can set them at different levels to encourage your birds to hop and move around, or fit out more than one cage.

Fitting to the Cage
Push the perch through the cage bars from the inside and secure it with the fixing on the outside, tightening it so the perch is firm and won't spin or slip when a bird lands. Position perches at a couple of different heights, and avoid placing them directly above food or water bowls where droppings could fall in. Leave enough clear space around each perch for your birds to move and flap. Check the fixings occasionally to make sure they stay tight.
Looking After the Perches
Natural wood is easy to keep clean but does soak up more than plastic, so wipe the perches down regularly and let them dry, and give them a proper clean if they become soiled. Expect some nibbling and gradual wear, which is normal with untreated wood, and replace a perch if it becomes cracked, chewed through or won't hold tight anymore. Offering perches of slightly different thickness across the cage is good for foot health.
