About Arysta
Arysta LifeScience built its reputation on specialist crop protection chemistry for high-value crops such as fruit, vegetables, ornamentals and turf. In 2019 it became part of UPL, one of the world's largest crop protection companies.
Many well-known Arysta products, including Acramite and Orthene, continue to be widely used by Australian growers. Each one targets a specific disease or pest problem, so it's easy to choose the right product for the job.
Arysta Fungicides
Terrazole 350WP
Terrazole 350WP is a soil fungicide containing 350g/kg etridiazole, a Group 14 (formerly Group X) fungicide. It prevents and controls damping off, root rot and stem rot caused by Pythium and Phytophthora in turf, ornamentals and nursery crops. Apply it as a soil drench or turf spray at the first sign of disease.
Proplant Fungicide
Proplant contains 605g/L propamocarb, a Group 28 systemic fungicide. It controls damping off caused by Pythium in ornamentals and recreational turf, with up to 28 days of protection. It's fully soluble and can be applied by watering can, injector or spray rig, including when seeding new turf.
Arysta Insecticides and Miticides
Orthene Xtra Insecticide
Orthene Xtra contains 970g/kg acephate, a Group 1B insecticide with contact and systemic action. It's registered for listed pests on bananas, crucifers, macadamias, potatoes, tomatoes, tobacco and ornamentals, including banana scab moth, macadamia nut borer and potato moth. It's a POISON-labelled product for commercial use.
Acramite Miticide
Acramite is a selective miticide containing bifenazate, a Group 20D mode of action. It gives fast knockdown and residual control of two-spotted mite, European red mite and Bryobia mite on pome fruit, stone fruit, almonds, strawberries, cucurbits and fruiting vegetables. Its selectivity makes it a good fit for integrated pest management.
Aphid Spray (Natural Pyrethrum)
For home gardens, the Aphid Spray 400g aerosol is a ready-to-use insect spray based on natural pyrethrins with piperonyl butoxide. It knocks down aphids, caterpillars, thrips and leafhoppers on vegetables, roses, ornamentals and indoor plants, with no mixing required.

Resistance Management and Safe Use
Pests and diseases can develop resistance when the same chemical group is used again and again. Rotate products from different groups, for example alternating Group 14 and Group 28 fungicides for Pythium, and follow the label limits on applications per season.
Always read the label before use, wear the listed protective equipment, and observe withholding periods. Don't spray flowering plants while bees are foraging, keep chemicals out of waterways, and store all products locked away in their original containers.

FAQs
Who owns Arysta?
Arysta LifeScience was acquired by UPL, a global crop protection company, with the deal completed in 2019. Many Arysta-developed products are still sold in Australia under their original brand names.
What is the best fungicide for Pythium?
Terrazole (etridiazole) and Proplant (propamocarb) are both widely used for Pythium damping off and root rot. Because they belong to different chemical groups, many growers rotate them to reduce the risk of resistance.
What does Acramite control?
Acramite controls two-spotted mite, European red mite and Bryobia mite on registered crops. It acts on all moving mite stages and gives residual control after application.
Is Orthene Xtra suitable for home gardens?
Orthene Xtra is a POISON-labelled agricultural insecticide registered for specific commercial crops. Home gardeners are better suited to a ready-to-use product such as the pyrethrum-based Aphid Spray.
Is pyrethrum spray safe for vegetables?
Pyrethrum sprays are commonly used on vegetables because natural pyrethrins break down quickly. Always follow the label directions and withholding period, and avoid spraying near ponds, as pyrethrins are toxic to fish.
