Yates Blitzem Insect Killer 750ml: Trigger Spray for Household Crawling Pests
Yates Blitzem Insect Killer is a ready-to-use trigger spray that kills cockroaches, ants, spiders, fleas, silverfish, carpet beetles and clothes moths on contact, then leaves a low-toxicity barrier that keeps working on treated surfaces for up to three months. It's a household surface spray rather than a garden or plant insecticide, so it's built for skirting boards, entry points, wardrobes and the areas around your home's foundations, not roses or vegetable beds.
The active ingredients are permethrin and allethrin, a combination of synthetic pyrethroids that disrupt an insect's nervous system on contact. That gives you two things at once: a fast knockdown on pests you spray directly, and a residual barrier on the treated surface that keeps controlling pests that walk across it afterwards. It's ready to use straight from the bottle, so there's no mixing, just shake and spray.
Why It Works This Way
-
Contact kill plus residual barrier, rather than a one-off knockdown spray
-
Permethrin and allethrin combination, classified low toxicity based on available safety data (not classified as hazardous for acute oral or dermal exposure, not an eye or skin irritant)
-
Controls treated surfaces for up to three months once dry
-
One 750ml bottle covers up to 19 square metres
-
Suitable for both indoor surfaces and outdoor areas around the house
Treating Different Pests Around the Home
Where you spray depends on what you're targeting:
-
Ants, spiders and cockroaches – walls, cupboards, behind sinks and other fittings, and especially cracks and crevices where they travel and shelter
-
Fleas and carpet beetles – entrances, carpets, skirting boards and under furniture
-
Silverfish and clothes moths – all surfaces inside wardrobes and cupboards (spray the surfaces, not the clothing itself)
Shake the bottle well before use, then spray surfaces until moist without soaking to the point of run-off. A 750ml bottle covers up to 19 square metres, enough for the entry points and problem areas of an average home, though a larger or heavily affected property may need more than one bottle.
Getting a Lasting Result
Because the barrier keeps working for months once it's dry, coverage of the right areas matters more than how heavily you spray. Treat where pests actually travel, not just where you've spotted them, and reapply if a surface gets washed or scrubbed since that removes the residue. If you've treated wardrobe or cupboard surfaces for silverfish or clothes moths, let everything dry fully before putting clothing back, and keep the area ventilated while you work. The formula is low toxicity, but it's still a pesticide: keep pets and people off wet surfaces until dry, and avoid spraying near ponds, aquariums or waterways, since permethrin is harmful to aquatic life.
Frequently Asked Questions
What pests does Yates Blitzem Insect Killer control?
It kills cockroaches, ants, spiders, fleas, carpet beetles, silverfish and clothes moths on contact, and continues controlling them on treated surfaces afterwards.
Can I use it both inside and outside the house?
Yes. It's suited to indoor surfaces like skirting boards and wardrobes as well as outdoor areas around the home, such as entry points and foundations.
How long does the protection last?
Once sprayed and dry, it forms a barrier that keeps controlling pests on that surface for up to three months.
How much area does one bottle cover?
A single 750ml bottle covers up to 19 square metres, which typically covers the main entry points and problem areas of a house.
Can I spray it directly on clothes to control clothes moths?
No. Spray the surfaces inside wardrobes and cupboards, not the clothing itself, and let everything dry before putting clothes back.
Where can I buy Yates Blitzem Insect Killer 750ml in Australia?
It's available from BPG Supplies (Bonnyrigg Produce & Garden Supplies), with local pickup in Bonnyrigg NSW and delivery across Australia.
