Wombaroo Lorikeet & Honeyeater Food 1.5kg: Complete Nectar Diet for Nectar-Eating Birds
Wombaroo Lorikeet & Honeyeater Food is a complete, balanced nectar diet for all nectar-eating birds, including lorikeets, lories, honeyeaters, wattlebirds, miners, sunbirds and hummingbirds. It's a white powder that dissolves into a liquid nectar, formulated to replicate the consistency and nutrient value of the natural nectar and pollen diet these birds eat in the wild. It's a long-trusted, avian-vet recommended maintenance food.
One of its standout features is that the prepared nectar stays in solution and doesn't separate or settle out, so birds get consistent nutrition with every sip rather than the components sinking to the bottom. It's low in fibre and starch for easy digestion, and it's calorie-controlled with balanced protein and moderate iron, vitamin A and vitamin D3 levels, which matters for lorikeets, as too much iron can cause health problems in these birds.
Ingredients
Sucrose, glucose, maltodextrin, whey protein, casein, lysine, methionine, vegetable oils, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, taurine, carotenoids, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, C, D3, E and K, biotin, choline, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc, iron, manganese, copper, iodine, selenium, and 1g/kg Actigen dried yeast prebiotic.
How to Prepare & Feed
Mix the powder with warm water. To make 100mL, mix 3 scoops (30g) of powder with 80mL of warm water; to make 1 litre, mix 300g of powder with about 800mL of warm water. Add half the water to the powder first and mix until dispersed, then add the rest and mix thoroughly. Offer it in a bowl, sipper tube or D-cup feeder.
Use it as the everyday maintenance diet, and stick to the feeding guide amounts, as overfeeding can lead to obesity. In hot weather, provide fresh food in the morning and evening to prevent spoilage, and offer fresh water, fruit and blossom daily. For breeding birds, increase the feed by around 30% and supplement as recommended.
Storage
Store the dry powder in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Prepared nectar can be kept refrigerated for a day, or frozen for up to 2 weeks, freezing it in ice-cube trays makes it easy to thaw just the daily amount you need.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I mix Wombaroo Lorikeet & Honeyeater Food?
To make 100mL, mix 3 scoops (30g) of powder with 80mL of warm water. For 1 litre, mix 300g of powder with about 800mL of warm water. Add half the water first, mix until dispersed, then add the rest and mix well.
Which birds is it for?
All nectar-eating birds, including lorikeets, lories, honeyeaters, wattlebirds, miners, sunbirds and hummingbirds. It's used as a complete maintenance diet for captive birds and can also supplement wild ones.
Does the nectar separate after mixing?
No. It's specifically formulated to stay in solution, so the nutrients don't settle out, and birds get balanced nutrition throughout the feed.
How should I store prepared food?
Keep it refrigerated for up to a day, or freeze it for up to 2 weeks. Freezing in ice-cube trays lets you thaw just the daily amount needed. Store the dry powder below 30°C.
How much should I feed?
Follow the feeding guide, as overfeeding can cause obesity. In hot weather, offer fresh food morning and evening, and provide fresh water, fruit and blossom daily. Increase feed by about 30% for breeding birds.
Can I feed it to wild lorikeets?
Yes, as a supplement. Wombaroo suggests limiting it to no more than 10mL per lorikeet or 5mL per honeyeater, feeding less often to avoid dependence, and cleaning the bowl daily. Planting native shrubs and providing water is a good alternative.
What sizes does it come in?
It's available in 300g and 1.5kg, with the larger size suited to multiple birds or regular feeding.
