How to Mix and Feed

• Always mix a fresh batch for each feed; do not store or refrigerate pre-mixed formula

• Mix with a fork, not a spoon, to get a smooth, even consistency with no dry lumps

• For newly hatched chicks, start with a very runny mix and give a few drops until the baby passes its first dropping, then gradually thicken the mix over about 48 hours

• For regular feeding, mix to a smooth paste following the scoop directions on the pack

• Feed at 38 to 41°C to avoid crop burns and indigestion, and check the temperature every time

• Never heat the formula in a microwave, as it creates hot spots that can cause crop burns

Getting the Best From It

• Feed Neocare on its own and do not mix in other foods or supplements unless advised by a vet, as this dilutes and unbalances the carefully formulated nutrition

• For chicks being reared from hatching, give an electrolyte formula for the first 24 hours or until the first dropping is passed, then start Neocare

• The first feed is usually around 5 to 6am and the last around 10 to 11pm, and the crop should be allowed to empty completely once every 24 hours
