Description
Vetafarm Coccivet 50mL: Liquid Coccidiosis Treatment for Birds
Vetafarm Coccivet is a liquid treatment for coccidiosis in pigeons and ornamental birds, including finches, poultry and other cage and aviary species. It contains two active constituents, amprolium (50g/L) and ethopabate (3.1g/L), which work together against the coccidia parasites that infect the gut. It is added to drinking water, making it straightforward to treat a number of birds at once.
Coccidiosis is a common intestinal disease caused by microscopic coccidia parasites. It can cause diarrhoea, weight loss, weakness, ruffled feathers and poor condition, and in heavy infections can be serious, especially in young or stressed birds. Outbreaks often flare in warm, damp conditions and during stressful periods such as weaning, moving birds or introducing new stock. Coccivet works to control the parasite so affected birds can recover and the burden across the flock is brought down.
Because it goes into the drinking water, Coccivet is practical for lofts, aviaries and flocks where dosing birds individually would be difficult. The 50mL bottle is enough for repeat or multi-bird treatment depending on the dilution and number of birds.

Dosage & Administration
Coccivet is mixed into the birds' drinking water at the rate given on the label for your bird type, and used for the full course stated. During treatment, make the medicated water the only drinking source so birds take in the correct amount, and mix fresh medicated water daily. Because coccidiosis is best confirmed before treating, and because dose rates and suitability vary between species, always read the label and consult your avian veterinarian for diagnosis and the right dose for your birds.
Good to Know
Coccidia spread through droppings, so hygiene is a big part of controlling an outbreak. Keep floors, perches and water containers clean and dry, avoid overcrowding, and remove wet or soiled litter promptly to reduce reinfection while you treat. Stress and warm, humid conditions make outbreaks more likely, so extra care during those periods helps. Provide clean, medicated water only during the course, and support sick birds with warmth and easy access to food and water. If birds do not improve, or you are treating a species you are unsure about, seek veterinary advice.
