Description

Transform Insecticide 1L: Sulfoxaflor Control for Aphids and Sap-Feeding Pests

Transform is a systemic insecticide for controlling aphids and other sap-feeding pests across a wide range of broadacre and horticultural crops. The active constituent is 240g/L sulfoxaflor (sold as Isoclast active), a Group 4C insecticide, and this 1L pack is a suspension concentrate registered under APVMA approval number 64101. It's an agricultural crop-protection product rather than a home garden or lawn insecticide.

What makes Transform stand out is its mode of action. Sulfoxaflor belongs to the sulfoximine class and works as a nicotinic receptor agonist, with systemic and translaminar movement through the plant. In practical terms, that means it's absorbed and moves through the leaf to reach sucking pests, and because it's a different chemical group from many older insecticides, it stays effective against aphid populations that have developed resistance to other chemistries, which is why it's valued as a rotation partner in resistance-management programs.

Pests It Controls

  • Aphids, including Russian wheat, cabbage, green peach, turnip, oat, corn, rose grain and soybean aphids

  • Woolly apple aphid and apple dimpling bug

  • Green mirid and Rutherglen bug

  • Greenhouse whiteflies

  • Mealybug and scale

  • Tomato-potato psyllid and lace bug

Not all pests are registered in all crops, so check the label for the pests registered against your specific crop.

Registered Crops

Transform is registered across a broad set of crops, including canola, cereals, cotton, forage brassicas, herbs, lucerne, nursery stock, pulses, tree nuts, soybeans, and various fruit and vegetable crops. The vegetable registrations span brassica, bulb, cucurbit, fruiting, leafy, legume, and root and tuber groups. As with the pest list, the exact crop and pest combinations that are registered are set out in the Directions for Use, so the label is the reference point for what you can legally treat.

Application and Resistance Management

Transform can be applied by ground rig or aerially, which suits it to broadacre situations. Because it fits well into integrated pest management, with minimal impact on many beneficial insects and predatory mites, it's often used to avoid flaring secondary pests the way broader-spectrum products can. Application rates and timing vary by crop and pest, so follow the rates, water volumes and re-treatment intervals on the registered label rather than a general figure. Shake well before use.

Important Handling and Safety

Sulfoxaflor is systemic and highly toxic to bees, and this is one of the most important points on the label: do not apply Transform while bees are foraging in the crop being treated, since it will kill bees directly exposed during spraying and while droplets are still wet, and spray drift can affect nearby hives. It's also very toxic to aquatic life, so don't contaminate wetlands or watercourses. It may irritate the eyes, so avoid eye contact and wear the protective clothing specified on the label when opening and preparing the product. Store it in the closed original container in a cool, well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight, and always read the attached booklet and label before use.
