Tomcat All-Weather Block Bait: Rat Poison Blocks That Resist Damp
Tomcat All-Weather Rat & Mouse Block Baits are wax-based rat bait blocks designed to resist damp, humid and wet conditions indoors and around buildings. Each block contains 0.05g/kg bromadiolone, a second-generation anticoagulant that kills rats and mice in one application, including those resistant to other anticoagulants. This bundle includes 4 boxes of 224g, giving you 32 extra-large 28g blocks in total, enough to set up and restock several bait stations through a full treatment. The blocks contain denatonium benzoate, a bittering agent that helps deter accidental tasting.
Are All-Weather Rat Bait Blocks Effective?
Yes. All-weather blocks stay firm and palatable in damp sub-floors, sheds, garages and laundries, where pellets and soft baits can go mouldy. Each extra-large block has holes through it, so it can be fixed onto a bait station rod and can't be dragged away by rodents. Bromadiolone works from a single feed, and death follows a few days later, so rodents don't link the bait with illness and the rest of the colony keeps feeding.
Rats or Mice? Check Before You Bait
Knowing which rodent you have tells you how many blocks to use and how far apart to place them.
- Rat droppings: around 12 to 18mm long, capsule shaped.
- Mouse droppings: around 3 to 6mm long, like grains of rice.
- Rats: larger gnaw marks, greasy rub marks along walls, burrows in gardens or under slabs, and noise in roof spaces.
- Mice: small, scattered droppings in cupboards and pantries, shredded nesting material, and tiny gnaw marks on food packets.
Why Choose the Bundle of 4
A rodent problem usually needs bait at several points at once, plus regular top-ups until feeding stops. With 32 blocks across four boxes, you can set up multiple stations around a house, shed and garage and keep them stocked without running out mid-treatment. Store unopened boxes in their original packaging, out of reach of children and animals, until needed.
How to Use Tomcat Block Baits
- Find active areas: droppings, gnaw marks, runways and burrows.
- Wearing gloves, secure blocks inside tamper-resistant bait stations on the rods. Gloves also stop human scent on the bait, which can make rodents wary.
- Rats: use 2 to 8 blocks per feeding point, with points no more than 9m apart.
- Mice: use 1 to 2 blocks per feeding point, with points no more than 3m apart.
- Place stations along walls, in corners and near openings, never out in the open.
- Inspect regularly, replace eaten blocks and keep baiting until feeding stops.
- Remove all remaining bait at the end of the treatment.
Safety and Wildlife
Read the label before use. This is a poison that's hazardous to dogs, cats, pigs, poultry and native wildlife. Always use blocks inside a secured bait station, keep bait away from food, food preparation and storage areas, and don't apply to crops. Pets and wildlife can also be harmed by eating poisoned rodents, so collect dead rodents with gloves and dispose of them promptly. Follow any placement limits on the current label, as some anticoagulant labels restrict use to in and around buildings. The antidote is Vitamin K1 (phytomenadione). If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor, vet or the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the Tomcat All-Weather Block Bait bundle of 4?
You get four 224g boxes, each with 8 extra-large 28g blocks, for a total of 896g and 32 blocks.
How do Tomcat All-Weather blocks kill rats and mice?
They contain bromadiolone, a second-generation anticoagulant that stops blood clotting. Rats and mice can take a lethal dose in one application, and die a few days after feeding.
Do rat bait blocks work?
Yes, when they're placed in bait stations along rodent runways and kept topped up until feeding stops. Using enough bait points for the size of the problem matters as much as the bait itself.
What poison is best to kill rats?
It depends on where you're baiting and what else is around. For damp or outdoor areas near buildings, weatherproof blocks with a single-feed anticoagulant like bromadiolone work well. Always use a tamper-resistant bait station.
What poison kills rats and mice?
Anticoagulant baits such as bromadiolone, brodifacoum and difenacoum are the most common rat and mouse poisons in Australia. Tomcat All-Weather blocks use bromadiolone and control both rats and mice.
How many blocks should I use?
Use 2 to 8 blocks per rat feeding point and 1 to 2 blocks per mouse feeding point. Space points no more than 9m apart for rats and 3m apart for mice.
Is it safe around pets and wildlife?
No rat poison is safe for animals to eat. Use blocks only inside secured bait stations out of reach of pets, poultry and wildlife, and remove dead rodents promptly. Contact a vet straight away if you think an animal has eaten bait.
