Strike Back for Orchids 2kg: Complete Feeding for Your Orchid Collection
Neutrog Strike Back for Orchids is a complete, organic-based fertiliser boosted with water-soluble nutrients, developed to improve orchid growth and flower development. The organic base feeds slowly, while the added soluble nutrients lift the result of each monthly application. No other nutrients are needed, and it works just as well on other potted flowering and fruiting plants. The 2kg tub is a handy middle size for growers with a steady collection of pots.
Feeding Through the Orchid Year
Orchids need regular feeding across the seasons, but timing matters most when they are building flowers. Strike Back's lower nitrogen to potassium ratio is designed to support that process, so it should be applied at least from February to October, the period when cymbidiums put on new growth and then form and develop their flower spikes. Over the warmer months from November to January, Neutrog recommends switching to Seamungus to keep plants healthy without pushing them.
Why Orchids Need More Than Bark Can Give
Orchid bark and similar potting media are chosen for drainage and airflow, not nutrition, so potted orchids depend on what you feed them. Strike Back supplies the main nutrients in an approximate 8:3:10 NPK ratio, together with magnesium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron and molybdenum. That full spread of trace elements helps prevent the deficiencies that commonly show up as pale leaves or poor flowering in orchids grown in inert mixes.
Clean, Easy Pellets With a Seaweed Base
Each pellet is made from composted manure and seaweed, blended with soluble nutrients, pasteurised and formed into a tidy pellet. Sprinkle them over the surface of the potting mix and they break down gradually with each watering, feeding the plant little by little. It is a simple routine: a measured spoonful once a month.

How to Use Strike Back With Potted Orchids
Apply 20g (about 2 teaspoons) per 20cm (8 inch) pot each month, scaling the amount up or down for larger or smaller pots. Sprinkle the pellets evenly over the potting mix and water as normal. Feed at least from February to October, then use Seamungus from November to January. When potting up young orchids, or feeding plants with a single growth or less than 12 months from propagation, do not use Strike Back, as its nutrient level can burn them; use Seamungus or Rapid Raiser instead. For mature orchids that have been divided or repotted, wait until the plant has settled into its new pot before resuming the monthly feed.
Small Habits That Help Orchids Flower
Mark your monthly feeding day on a calendar so it doesn't get missed during the key spike-forming months. Water thoroughly and let pots drain freely, as soggy bark leads to root problems no fertiliser can fix. Every few months, run plain water through each pot to rinse out any build-up of salts. Give cymbidiums plenty of bright light, as a well-fed plant still won't flower well in too much shade.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use Neutrog Strike Back when potting orchids?
Do not use it when potting up young orchids, as it can burn them; use Seamungus or Rapid Raiser instead. For mature orchids, let the plant settle after repotting, then apply 20g per 20cm pot monthly.
Does Neutrog Strike Back help orchids bloom?
Yes. Its lower nitrogen and higher potassium ratio is designed to support flower formation and development. How long flowers last also depends on light, temperature and watering.
How much Strike Back should I use per pot?
Use 20g (about 2 teaspoons) per 20cm (8 inch) pot per month, adjusting for pot size.
When should I feed my orchids with Strike Back?
At least from February to October each year. From November to January, Neutrog recommends using Seamungus.
Is Strike Back for Orchids organic?
It is organic-based, with a composted manure and seaweed base boosted with water-soluble nutrients.
