Description

Incitec Pivot Granular Urea 46-0-0: High-Nitrogen Fertiliser for Lawns, Pastures & Crops

Incitec Pivot Granular Urea is a concentrated nitrogen fertiliser containing 46% nitrogen (46-0-0), which makes it the highest-analysis solid nitrogen fertiliser available. That high nitrogen content drives strong leaf and stem growth, deep green colour and fast recovery, which is why it's a staple for pastures, cereals, sugarcane, vegetables, fruit and turf, as well as home lawns and gardens.

Urea is highly soluble and flexible to apply. You can spread it dry with a broadcast spreader, dissolve it in water for a liquid or foliar feed, or run it through fertigation. Applied as part of a balanced program, it delivers quick results and one of the fastest green-ups of any nitrogen source.

How to Use

Urea works best when it's matched to your crop's needs and protected from nitrogen loss. As a general home-lawn guide, a light feed is around 1 kg per 100 m² and a fuller feed around 2 kg per 100 m², applied lightly and more often rather than in one heavy dose. For crops and pastures, follow your soil test or agronomic advice for the correct rate.

The single most important step is to water it in. Surface-applied urea can lose a large share of its nitrogen to the air as ammonia gas if it's left sitting on top, so water it in with irrigation within a few hours of spreading, or apply just before rain, or work it into the topsoil. Avoid applying to warm, dry soil on hot or windy days, when nitrogen loss is worst. Because urea has a high salt content, don't over-apply and don't leave granules sitting on foliage, as this can burn plants.

Other Uses

Urea is also used as a non-protein nitrogen supplement for ruminant livestock when correctly blended into feed. Because incorrect mixing can be toxic to stock, only use it this way following proper feed formulation and veterinary or nutritionist advice.

Storage

Store in a dry, moisture-free place with the bag sealed. Kept dry, granular urea stores well without losing quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the nitrogen content of Incitec Pivot Granular Urea?
It contains 46% nitrogen, with an analysis of 46-0-0, making it the most concentrated solid nitrogen fertiliser available.

How do I apply granular urea to a lawn?
As a general guide, use around 1 kg per 100 m² for a light feed or up to 2 kg per 100 m² for a fuller feed, applied lightly and often. Spread it evenly and water it in straight away. For crops, follow your soil test or agronomic advice.

Can I dissolve urea in water?
Yes. Urea is highly soluble and can be dissolved for liquid or foliar application or fertigation. Use enough water for even coverage, and note that the water is just a carrier, it doesn't change the nitrogen rate. Warm water helps it dissolve faster.

Why do I need to water urea in?
Surface-applied urea can lose a significant amount of its nitrogen to the air as ammonia gas. Watering it in within a few hours, applying before rain, or working it into the soil moves the nitrogen into the root zone and prevents that loss.

Can urea burn my lawn or plants?
Yes, if misapplied. Urea has a high salt index, so over-applying, or leaving granules on foliage without watering in, can scorch plants. Apply at the correct rate, spread evenly, and water in.

Is urea safe to feed to livestock?
Urea is used as a non-protein nitrogen supplement for ruminants, but only when correctly blended into feed. Incorrect mixing can be toxic to stock, so follow proper feed formulation and professional advice.

What is urea fertiliser made from?
Urea is manufactured by reacting ammonia with carbon dioxide, producing a solid, highly soluble nitrogen fertiliser in granule or prill form.

Where can I buy Incitec Pivot Granular Urea in Australia?
You can buy it from Bonnyrigg Produce & Garden Supplies in 1kg, 2kg, 4kg and 25kg, shipped Australia-wide.
