David Grays Poultry Dust 3kg: Lice, Mite, Flea & Tick Control for Poultry
David Grays Poultry Dust is a trusted dusting powder for keeping external parasites off your poultry and out of the coop. It contains 20 g/kg maldison and controls lice, mites, fleas, ticks and flies on chickens and other poultry. This 3kg pack is the value size, ideal for larger flocks, regular routine treatment, or anyone who dusts both their birds and their coop often and doesn't want to run out.
Why Parasite Control Matters
Lice, mites, fleas and ticks bite your birds, causing irritation, feather loss, restlessness and poor condition, and they can knock laying right back. Left unchecked, an infestation spreads quickly through a flock and the coop. Regular dusting keeps parasites under control and your birds comfortable, healthy and productive.
Treat the Birds and the Coop
For lasting control you need to treat both the bird and its environment, since parasites like red mite hide in the coop during the day and only come out to feed at night. Dust the powder directly through your birds' feathers, down to the skin, concentrating under the wings and around the vent where lice and mites gather. Then dust it through the coop, into nesting boxes, bedding, perches, roosts, floors and cracks and crevices, to hit the parasites where they breed and shelter. Dusting after a coop clean-out gives the best coverage. Around the pen, it may also help deter mice.
Safe for Egg-Laying Hens
It's safe to use on egg-laying poultry, with no withholding period for eggs, so you can keep collecting and eating your eggs while treating your flock. For meat birds, stop use at least 7 days before slaughter, as a 7-day meat withholding period applies. It can be used on all poultry, including laying hens, roosters, ducks and geese.
How to Use
-
Lightly dust the powder between the feathers of each bird, working down to the skin, focusing under the wings and around the vent.
-
Dust roosts, perches, nesting boxes, bedding and crevices throughout the coop, ideally after cleaning out old bedding.
-
Reapply as needed, generally every few weeks or when pests are present, repeating to catch newly hatched parasites.
Safety
Maldison is an anticholinesterase organophosphate insecticide, so use it strictly as directed, this is a pest-control product, not a dust-bath material, so don't provide it for birds to bathe in. Avoid inhaling the dust and getting it in your eyes, wear gloves, and wash your hands thoroughly after use. Don't heavily dust birds that are sick or stressed, keep it out of feed and water, and store it in a cool, dry place out of reach of children and pets. Observe the 7-day meat withholding period, and always read and follow the label.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the active ingredient in David Grays Poultry Dust?
It contains 20 g/kg maldison, an anticholinesterase organophosphate that controls lice, mites, fleas, ticks and flies on poultry.
How do I apply it?
Dust it lightly through the birds' feathers down to the skin, focusing under the wings and around the vent, and dust the coop, nesting boxes, perches and crevices as well. Reapply as needed.
Is it safe for laying hens?
Yes. It's safe to use on egg-laying poultry with no egg withholding period, so you can keep eating your eggs as normal.
Is there a meat withholding period?
Yes. For meat birds, stop use at least 7 days before slaughter.
Can I use it as a dust bath for my chickens?
No. This is an insecticidal dust, not a dust-bath product, so don't set it out for birds to bathe in. Apply it directly to the birds and the coop as directed. For dust bathing, birds use plain dry materials like sand, dirt and wood ash.
Why treat the coop as well as the birds?
Many parasites, especially red mite, live and breed in the coop and only come onto the bird to feed. Treating the roosts, nesting boxes and crevices targets them at the source and stops reinfestation.
How often should I reapply?
Generally every few weeks or when pests are present, repeating to catch newly hatched parasites.
What sizes does it come in?
This is the 3kg value pack. It's also available in a 400g size.
