Legion Nylon Cable Ties 4.8 x 200mm – Self-Locking Zip Ties, Black & White, 50 Pack

Legion Cable Ties 4.8 x 200mm: Self-Locking Nylon Ties for Everyday Jobs

Legion Cable Ties are self-locking nylon ties sized at 4.8mm wide and 200mm long, a versatile all-round size for home, office, garden and workshop use. Each tie is made in one piece, with a toothed strap that locks securely into the head as you pull it tight. Available in black and white, they come in handy packs so you always have a supply ready.

The All-Rounder Size for Most Tasks

At 200mm long and 4.8mm wide, these ties are big enough to bundle a handful of cables or secure a plant stake, yet slim enough for neat, tidy work. The heavier-weight nylon gives them extra strength compared with thin, light-duty ties, so they hold firm without snapping as you tighten them. It is the size most people reach for first around the house and shed.

Black or White: Pick the Right Colour for the Job

Black cable ties blend in with dark cables, fences, trellis and outdoor fixtures, and are the usual choice for jobs out in the weather. White ties suit indoor work, light-coloured walls and cabling where you want a clean, neat look, or where you need to spot the tie easily. Having both colours on hand means you can match the tie to the job.

Uses Around the Home, Garden and Workshop

• Bundling computer, TV and power cables behind desks and entertainment units
• Tidying cords in the garage, shed and workshop
• Tying plants to stakes, trellis and garden frames
• Securing shade cloth, netting and garden fencing
• Temporary fixes, labelling and organising tools and hoses
• Holding items together during glue-ups or repairs

How to Select the Right Cable Tie Size

Cable tie size comes down to two measurements. Length decides how big a bundle the tie can wrap around, and width decides how strong it is: wider ties hold more load. A 200mm tie wraps comfortably around a bundle of several household cables, a plant stem and stake, or a hose. The 4.8mm width is the standard medium-strength size, stronger than thin 2.5mm or 3.6mm ties but still neat enough for tidy cabling. For small bundles like a single phone charger, a shorter tie is tidier; for thick bundles, heavy loads or outdoor fencing, step up to a longer, wider tie.

How to Use Cable Ties Neatly

Wrap the tie around the items, feed the tail through the head with the teeth facing inwards, and pull until snug. Avoid over-tightening on cables, as crushing the insulation can cause damage. Trim the excess tail with side cutters, cutting flush to the head so no sharp edge is left behind. On plants, leave a little slack so stems have room to grow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tensile strength is a 4.8 x 200mm nylon cable tie?
Across the industry, 4.8mm wide nylon cable ties are commonly rated at around 22kg (about 50lb) of loop tensile strength. Width is the main factor in strength, so 4.8mm ties sit in the medium-duty range. Check the pack for the rating of these specific ties.

How do I select the right cable tie size for home wiring?
Choose the length by the size of the bundle and the width by the load. For tidying TV, computer and power cords at home, 4.8 x 200mm ties are a practical all-round size. Cable ties are for organising cords only; any fixed electrical wiring work in Australia must be done by a licensed electrician.

What size are these cable ties?
They measure 4.8mm wide and 200mm long.

Are these heavy duty cable ties?
They are made from heavier-weight nylon for extra strength compared with thin light-duty ties, making them a strong medium-duty option. For very heavy loads, a wider tie is the better choice.

Should I use black or white cable ties outdoors?
Black ties are the usual choice for outdoor jobs as they blend in and are the common pick for sun-exposed use. White ties suit indoor and neat cabling work.

Are these cable ties reusable?
They are self-locking and designed to stay fastened. To remove one, cut it with side cutters or scissors.
