Description
Martins Cacti & Succulent Potting Mix 10L
Martins Cacti & Succulent Potting Mix is specially formulated to provide the open, free-draining growing environment preferred by cacti and succulent plants. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor containers as well as compatible in-ground planting.
The mix combines composted organic materials with trace elements, controlled-release fertiliser and a wetting agent. It provides an ideal medium for healthy root development while supplying nutrients for up to nine months of plant growth.
Why Use a Cacti & Succulent Mix?
Cacti and succulents generally perform best in growing media that drains freely and does not remain excessively wet around the roots.
Martins Cacti & Succulent Mix provides an open structure with excellent drainage while still supplying the nutrients and wetting properties required for container growing.

How to Use
For repotting cacti or succulents:
-
Choose a container with adequate drainage holes
-
Add fresh Martins Cacti & Succulent Mix to the base
-
Carefully remove the plant from its existing pot
-
Gently remove loose or damaged old growing media where appropriate
-
Position the plant at approximately its previous growing depth
-
Fill around the roots with fresh potting mix
-
Firm the mix gently without heavily compacting it
-
Water according to the needs of the individual cactus or succulent species
The mix is suitable for both small and large containers.
Watering Cacti & Succulents
Although the mix contains a wetting agent, watering frequency should still be based on the plant, container size, season and growing conditions.
Allow the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings for species that prefer drier conditions. Avoid allowing containers to remain permanently saturated, as good drainage is one of the main requirements for successful cactus and succulent growing.
Fertiliser & Plant Nutrition
Martins Cacti & Succulent Mix contains controlled-release fertiliser designed to supply nutrients for up to nine months after planting.
Additional fertiliser is therefore generally unnecessary immediately after repotting. As the initial nutrient period approaches its end, use a suitable cactus or succulent fertilizer according to the fertiliser label and the requirements of the plant.
Handling Potting Mix Safely
Potting mixes contain naturally occurring organic materials and can generate dust or bioaerosols when dry. Martins’ Safety Data Sheet recommends avoiding inhalation and unnecessary contact with dust.
