Description

Lime Sulphur Concentrate for Disease, Mite & Scale Control

Kendon Lime Sulphur is a concentrated lime sulphur solution that works as a fungicide, insecticide and miticide. This is the bulk 20 litre drum, suited to orchards, vineyards, larger properties and anyone treating a lot of trees or vines. The active constituent is 200g/L sulphur present as polysulphide sulphur, and it controls certain diseases, insects and mites on pome fruit, stone fruit, citrus, grapes, roses, hedges and vegetables.

What It Controls

It's a non-systemic contact spray with both fungicidal and insecticidal action, often used as a dormant or winter clean-up spray to knock back carry-over mite and fungal populations. On the label it controls diseases and pests including powdery mildew, rust, brown rot, black spot, shot hole, leaf curl and freckle, along with white louse scale, San Jose scale, frosted scale, and a range of mites such as bud mite, erinose mite, vine bunch mite, pear leaf blister mite, two spotted mite and tomato mite. It can also be included as part of a resistance management strategy.

How to Use

Kendon Lime Sulphur is a concentrate that's diluted with water and sprayed for thorough coverage. Rates vary by crop, pest and state registration, generally in the range of around 1L to 10L per 100L of water (for example citrus at 10L/100L and pome fruit at 5L/100L as a guide), so always follow the rate and critical comments on the product label for your situation. Timing depends on the crop and the target, and it's commonly applied during dormancy. Mix only what you need and use the spray mixture on the same day it's mixed.

Important Cautions

Do not apply during the growing period of apricots, raspberries, cucurbits, peaches or other sulphur-sensitive plants, as it can damage them. Do not mix with water of pH below 4. Very importantly, do not mix lime sulphur with acids or phosphate-based products, as this can release dangerous hydrogen sulphide gas. Avoid spraying in very hot conditions, and don't apply close to oil sprays, since combining sulphur and oil can burn plants.

Safety & Handling

This is an agricultural chemical and is harmful if swallowed and can irritate the skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing including gloves and eye protection when mixing and spraying, and wash your hands after use. It has a strong rotten-egg sulphur smell, so use it in the open air. Keep it out of reach of children, store it in the closed original container, and keep it away from acids and from drains and waterways. If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Always read the full label and safety directions before use.
