Description

Barmac Copper Oxychloride 2kg: Broad-Spectrum Fungicide for Fruit, Veg & Ornamentals

Barmac Copper Oxychloride is a broad-spectrum protectant fungicide and bactericide for controlling a wide range of fungal and bacterial diseases in fruit and vegetable crops, citrus, stone fruit, pome fruit and ornamentals. It contains 500 g/kg copper oxychloride and is a Group M1 fungicide, offering economical, reliable disease control across the garden and orchard. This is the 2kg pack.

It's a green powder that's pH neutral with an ultra-fine particle size, the majority of particles being 2 microns or less in diameter. That fine grind is what makes it free-flowing and easy to mix and apply, giving good coverage and adhesion on the plant surface.

How It Works

As a Group M1 protectant, copper oxychloride works as a contact fungicide rather than a systemic one. It forms a fine copper film on the plant surface that stops fungal spores and bacteria from establishing, so it protects the plant rather than curing existing infection. That means it's most effective applied preventively, before disease appears, and with thorough coverage including the undersides of leaves. As a multi-site protectant, it also carries a low risk of resistance.

How to Use

Mix the powder with water, stir thoroughly, and spray evenly over the plant so all surfaces are covered. As a general home-garden guide, copper oxychloride is mixed at around 30 to 75 g per 10 L of water depending on the crop and disease, but always follow the rates on the product label for your specific situation. Apply at the first sign of disease or as a preventative, and reapply based on weather and disease pressure. Since it's a contact product, it washes off, so reapply after rain. For stone fruit diseases like leaf curl, apply as a semi-dormant spray at bud swell, before the buds open.

It can be applied in tank mixes with a wide range of other chemicals and fertilisers, though use caution with alkaline products.

Important

Copper can cause leaf and fruit marking (phytotoxicity) if over-applied, particularly on citrus and in cool, wet conditions, so stick to the label rate and don't over-apply. Copper also builds up in soil over time and is toxic to aquatic life, so avoid run-off into drains and waterways. Wear gloves and eye protection when mixing and applying, avoid inhaling the dust, and wash your hands after use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the active ingredient in Barmac Copper Oxychloride?
It contains 500 g/kg copper oxychloride, a Group M1 protectant fungicide and bactericide.

What is copper oxychloride used for?
It controls a broad range of fungal and bacterial diseases, including leaf spots, blights, downy mildew, rust, brown rot, black spot and leaf curl, on fruit trees, citrus, stone fruit, vegetables and ornamentals.

How do I mix and use it?
Mix the powder with water (as a general guide, around 30 to 75 g per 10 L depending on the crop and disease), stir well, and spray evenly over all plant surfaces. Always follow the label rate for your crop. Apply preventively and reapply after rain.

Is it a preventative or a cure?
It's a protectant, so it works best applied before disease establishes. It doesn't cure infection already inside the plant, which is why coverage and timing matter.

Can I tank-mix it with other products?
Yes, it's compatible with a wide range of chemicals and fertilisers, but use caution with alkaline products. Check compatibility before mixing.

When should I use it on fruit trees?
For diseases like peach leaf curl, apply as a semi-dormant spray at bud swell before the buds open. For other diseases, apply at the first sign or as a preventative per the label.

Can copper oxychloride damage plants?
It can cause leaf or fruit marking if over-applied, especially on citrus in cool, wet conditions. Stick to the label rate and don't over-apply.

Where can I buy Barmac Copper Oxychloride in Australia?
You can buy the 2kg pack from BPG Supplies.
