Scotts Osmocote 2kg: Six Months of Feeding for Pots, Planters and Indoor Plants
Scotts Osmocote Pots, Planters & Indoors is a set-and-forget controlled release fertiliser made for plants growing in containers. One application feeds continuously for up to six months, making it an easy choice for potted plants, tubs, barrels, hanging baskets, window boxes and indoor plants. It contains a wetting agent and trace elements, and its low phosphorus content means it can be safely used on most Australian natives in pots.
Why Container Plants Need Their Own Fertiliser
Plants in pots rely entirely on the potting mix for nutrients, and every watering flushes some of those nutrients out through the drainage holes. Potting mix also dries out faster and can become water-repellent over time. This formula is built for those conditions: the controlled release keeps a steady supply of food available between waterings, while the added wetting agent helps water soak into the mix instead of running straight past the roots.
How the Osmocote Prills Work
Osmocote is made up of small prills (beads) of fertiliser, each encased in a permeable, biodegradable soy-extract coating. Nutrients are released according to temperature: more when it's warm and plants are actively growing, and less when it's cold and growth slows. Each prill carries a balanced micro-dose of nutrients, so feeding is even and reliable, and it won't burn soft new leaves or tender young roots.
For Flowering and Leafy Potted Plants
Whether you are growing flowering annuals in hanging baskets, leafy indoor plants, herbs on the balcony or a potted citrus, this formula promotes healthy growth, beautiful flowers and generous fruiting. Increased potassium supports flowering and overall plant strength. It suits palms, orchids and ferns too, in any size or style of container.

Tips for Healthy Potted Plants
Keep the prills on top of the mix rather than against stems. For indoor plants, a light layer of pebbles or mulch over the prills keeps them in place and looks tidy. Don't use Osmocote in hydroponic systems, ponds, pots sitting in water, or on lawns. Wet prills can stain hard surfaces, so sweep up any that fall onto tiles, decking or paving straight away.
