Roundup UltraMAX 20L: 570g/L High-Load Glyphosate Knockdown Herbicide
Roundup UltraMAX is the high-load end of the Roundup range, containing 570 g/L glyphosate present as the potassium salt. It's a Group M (Group 9) systemic knockdown herbicide built for agricultural, commercial and industrial weed control, and it's the go-to for growers, spray contractors, councils and land managers who need reliable control of tough weeds across large areas.
At 570 g/L it's one of the most concentrated liquid glyphosate formulations available, which has a practical payoff: fewer drums to buy, store, handle and dispose of, and less product per tank for the same result compared with a 360 or 450 formulation.
Fully Loaded with Transorb II
UltraMAX carries Bayer's proprietary Transorb II surfactant package built into the formulation. That means it's fully loaded, so in most situations you don't need to add a separate surfactant. The surfactant drives fast uptake into the plant and strong translocation, moving the glyphosate through the whole weed and down into the roots for a complete kill rather than a surface burn.
It's also a low viscosity, low foam formulation, which sounds minor until you're filling a boom spray, it pours and mixes faster, so you spend less time filling and more time spraying. It's manufactured to ISO certified quality standards.
Rainfast and Fast to Work With
UltraMAX is rainfast, so a shower after application won't undo your work the way it can with lesser formulations. And because glyphosate is inactivated on soil contact with no residual carryover, you can be back sowing within an hour of spraying, which matters when you're working to a narrow weather window.
What It Controls
UltraMAX gives knockdown control of a broad range of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds, plus woody weeds and scrub such as blackberry, gorse, lantana, boxthorn, groundsel bush, bitou bush, hawthorn, sweet briar and eucalypt seedlings. It's used in fallow, pre-sowing and pre-emergent situations, pastures prior to re-seeding, orchards and vineyards (as directed inter-row and vine-line spraying), forestry, and industrial and non-crop areas like roadsides, railways, firebreaks and around infrastructure.
How to Use
UltraMAX mixes with clean water and can be applied by boom, knapsack, handgun, wiper equipment or air, depending on the situation.
Rates vary considerably depending on the weed and the application method, so the correct rate always comes from the Weeds Controlled tables on the label rather than a single general figure. As an indication, knapsack rates for tough woody weeds sit in the range of roughly 65 mL to 190 mL per 15 L of water depending on species and bush size, while handgun and boom rates are set out separately. Some species also call for an added wetter such as Pulse at 200 to 500 mL per 100 L, gorse and eucalypts among them.
For best results, spray weeds that are actively growing and not stressed by drought or frost, and use a coarse to very coarse spray quality to reduce drift. Don't disturb treated weeds, by cultivation, sowing or grazing, for at least six daylight hours for annual weeds or seven days for perennial weeds, so the herbicide can translocate fully.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the active ingredient in Roundup UltraMAX?
It contains 570 g/L glyphosate present as the potassium salt, making it a high-load Group M (Group 9) systemic herbicide.
What is the mixing rate for Roundup UltraMAX?
Rates depend on the target weed and application method, and are set out in the Weeds Controlled tables on the label. As a guide, knapsack rates for tough woody weeds range from around 65 mL to 190 mL per 15 L of water depending on species. Always use the label rate for your specific weed and equipment.
Do I need to add a surfactant or wetter?
Not in most situations. UltraMAX is fully loaded with the Transorb II surfactant package. Some species, such as gorse and eucalypts, do call for an added wetter like Pulse at 200 to 500 mL per 100 L, as specified on the label.
How soon can I sow after spraying?
You can sow within one hour of applying UltraMAX. Glyphosate is inactivated on soil contact and leaves no residual, so there's no carryover to the following crop.
Is Roundup UltraMAX rainfast?
Yes. It's formulated to be rainfast, so rain after application won't wash off the result the way it can with lower-spec formulations.
How does 570 compare to Glyphosate 360 or 450?
The number is the glyphosate concentration per litre. At 570 g/L, UltraMAX is more concentrated, so you use less product for the same amount of active, which means fewer drums and less handling. It also includes the Transorb II surfactant, which lower-spec generics generally don't.
Can I use it on my lawn?
No. Glyphosate kills lawn grass along with the weeds, so it can't be used to selectively treat a lawn. It's designed for situations where you intend to remove all vegetation sprayed.
When shouldn't I spray?
Avoid spraying weeds stressed by drought or frost, as uptake and results will be poor. Don't disturb treated weeds for at least six daylight hours (annuals) or seven days (perennials), and don't spray across open water.
